The Owensboro Red Devils haven’t won over 800-career games because they don’t know how to stockpile talent on the play roster. No sir, Owensboro (Senior) High routinely has some of the best talent on any roster any where in the commonwealth at any level of competition. This year doesn’t look to be any different. One of the less heralded players, Jalen Carr, might prove to be among the best. He is a six-foot corner with arms which go on for days. He uses his length well and has already fielded two offers with more certainly to come. Enjoy this look at one of the very best backend guys playing KHSAA football today.

Jesse James was sort of the Robin Hood of the American West. It was rumored James robbed the rich to give to the poor. I don’t know if that is what he either did or didn’t do. I can tell you he robbed plenty of trains and banks and that is where the money was in those days. Jaxon James is not an outlaw. He is a Red Devil from Owensboro’s Senior High School. James has been playing in the shadow of one of the KHSAA’s premier RBs, Evan Hampton, committed to play for the University of Louisville next season. It is that time of year. It is time to start figuring which teams, entering the ’25 season, figure to factor in the title chase. We have detailed what we think here and it is based on our study of the incoming, ’25 rosters, what players return, what players graduated, and other various factors we have perfected through the years to render such predictions. We plan to do this for all of Kentucky’s six (6) classifications and there is no guarantee we will go in order from the top down, or the bottom to the top. There are good football teams in the KHSAA and there are bad ones and those teams span all of the six classes. Enjoy today’s look at 5A. Evan Hampton may be the top baseball prospect in Kentucky’s ’26 graduating class. How good is he?
