Well, scrimmages are in full swing. This time last year, a 4A team I had predicted would struggle tied a 5A power in a scrimmage which made the 4A coach scream all over social media that I was a complete idiot. The 4A team went 1-9, the 5A team challenged for the title at its level of play. Obviously, that scrimmage was meaningless. Well, Friday night Johnson’s Apollo squad pasted Logan County, at 4A team usually in the hunt. What does it mean? Does it mean anything? We’ll discuss. Friday Night Fletch.

We called this Pennebaker kid going off in a preseason article written about the likely top five in ’23 in the 1A classification. Holy Cross has underperformed a little, though the only performance which counts is on the brink of commencing, but Pennebaker has been on the money. We believe in Coach Eric Dick’s Cougars and wouldn’t be surprised for them to hang around a while in the playoffs.
