Ohio County struggled through an 0-11 campaign in 2024. That doesn’t mean the Eagles won’t be significantly improved in 2025. Matter of fact, we believe the prospects for the Ohio County Eagles are considerably rosier than this time a year ago. One bright spot was the play of Carson Powers and he returns. Enjoy this feature about a kid whose performance made the unbearable heat a tad more bearable and who hopes his performance brings comfort to the home fans around Hartford, KY over his senior year. This guy is rated as high as the number one RB in Kentucky’s ’26 class. Jay’Quan Crawford benches 230, squats 495, and power cleans 270 making him a real load to have to get to the ground. Crawford has four D-1 offers presently (EKU, Eastern Michigan, Kent State, and Toledo) with UK circling just outside the camp fire waiting to see what materializes over the course or his combine season before the senior year commences. Larry Irvin is called “PeeWee.” That isn’t a name which opponents of the Bruins call Irvin. His performance at times in ’24, as a junior, was down right major league. Irvin turned it on when the playoffs began and led his team past Male High in round two in overtime. One doesn’t get much more versatile than Fort Campbell’s JaCaryous “JP” Perryman. Last season, as a junior (’26), Perryman rushed for 603-yards, housed seven (7)-TDs rushing, completed 62-passes for 912-yards and 13-TDs, caught four (4) passes for 62-yards and a TD, housed eight two-pointers, registered 20-tackles, forced two fumbles, recovered one, and picked a pair of passes for 5-IRNYs. Say all of that three times really fast. The guy is a fantastic athlete who competes in multiple sports for his high school which competed at a high level a year ago in winning half its games. If you were to look at all the ways Isac Earl contributed to Central’s bottom line over his junior season, you may draw the conclusion we did. He led the team in passing, led the team in receiving, led the team in scoring, was among the leaders in rushing, tackles, TFLs, and FFs. That is a ton of leadership out of one position. The 5’8,” 165-pound dynamo may be the Storm’s best all-around athlete on the roster not named “Gunn.” Enjoy this feature about a young man who brings on the stormy weather for Central foes.

We selected BJ Evans to our Large School All-State Football Offense this past season as only a junior. Rushing for 1,799-yards on 194-carries, scoring 20-TDs and averaging 9.3-yards per carry against Lexington 6A competition will garner one some notice. What will Evans do for an encore? Jaylen Bradley just finished his sophomore season playing for one of the more prestigious programs in Kentucky. Bradley caught 12-balls for 273-yards and three (3) TDs on offense and registered 16-tackles, two (2) INTs in his 11-games of run. Jackson Arnett is the new sheriff in a town which has won 690-all time football games. What is our prediction for both Bradley and his “Scotties?” Success…

There are some really outstanding freshmen football players who got a ton of reps during the ’24 season. There was even a ’28 kid who got 13-games of run behind the best OL unit in Kentucky at any classification. LCA’s Matthew Montgomery is a 6’0,” 230-pound guy with a 275-pound bench, a 405-pound squat, and a penchant for flattening defenders unfortunate enough to get in his pulling trajectory on traps and pulls. JJ Austin is a workhorse for one of Kentucky’s premier programs. He leads the team in rushing, and rushing the football is what the Pirates do best. JJ is also more than a token defender.
