Independence Bank has started a revolution in the financial services industry

’27 RB certainly versatile

Russellville High is a program used to deep runs in the playoffs and even trips to the title game at the 1A classification. The program limped through the ’23 season suffering from one of the more daunting maladies from which any program can endure; youth. However, those young guys grow, learn, develop, and mature and look out! We have a 5’9,” 156-pound, two-sport, multi-phase performer for you today. His name is Jamarion Gardner and he had quite a freshman season. You will hear from this cat again, let me assure you.

Hudl Highlights

There is no better time than the present to anoint another Independence Bank, Revolutionary Player of the Week. Independence Bank is proud to sponsor a weekly article highlighting players in the areas where Independence Bank flourishes who embody the same type of revolutionary service to their respective football teams which has made Independence Bank unique and special in the banking industry.

Today we feature a young RB who may end up playing some corner and WR too as his career unfolds. His name is Jamarion Gardner and the young, ’27 phenom had quite an initial campaign playing for one of the more storied programs in the 1A classification anywhere in Kentucky.

Russellville High struggled in ’23 but were incredibly young and it hasn’t been too long ago we saw the Panthers on Kroger Field (2021) taking Pikeville High to the wire in the 1A title game (30-27). Coach Mikie Benton has been to the promised land and he fails to see any reason he can’t return. Today we feature Jamarion Gardner from Logan County’s Russellville High.

Jamarion Gardner is right in line with the type versatility we have been featuring this offseason. On top of leading the team in rushing, being second in scoring, being second in IRNY’s, and the other statistical contributions he made a season ago, Gardner is also a PG on the varsity basketball team.

Garner rushed for 524-yards as a freshman, averaging 6.81-yards per carry and scoring 5-TDs

It is important to remember Gardner was only a freshman in ’23. It is also important to remember this WR/Corner was pressed into running the football, this past year, more than it was initially anticipated as we entered the last Fall.

Garner carried the football 77-times from scrimmage, for 524-yards, averaging 6.81-yards per carry. Garner scored 5-rushing TDs, was second on the team in “scoring,” and played a little defense with 1-solo tackle and an INT he returned 43-yards.

Russellville High, among 1A’s more storied football traditions

Though his defensive snaps were limited, one has to give him credit where due…when called upon to play defense, he always seemed to do something huge. We call that being a “baller.”

Gardner is 5’9,” weighing in at 156 pounds. He is as quick as a hiccup as his deployment at PG in basketball indicates. Gardner is a “heady” football player who we believe will easily exceed the thousand yard rushing plateau in ’24.
