’26 Athlete showing out and showing up on recruiting boards all over the place
Jalen Carr is a guy who has flown under the radar a bit. Some of that is the glare shining off of stars like Evan Hampton (’26), Kalil Shemwell (’27), Omarian Tee (2) Green (’27), and company tends to conceal some of the other stars dotting the Red Devils’s roster and lineup. However, that being said, Carr has picked up a couple of impressive offers and the K-Dub (Kentucky Wesleyan University) offer would give him an opportunity to stay home and play his collegiate ball in front of the home folks. If you think about it, it is a good deal for the Panthers and for Carr. Some homegrown talent doesn’t hurt ticket sales. Carr is 6’0,” with a ton of length who figures to round into one of Kentucky’s better corner/safety prospects. This guy also runs track and (after all) speed kills and thrills. This guy is a threat to make the large school All-State team at season’s end.

Owensboro, KY: The Red Devils from Owensboro are routinely in the hunt in the 5A classification. With Jay Fallin retiring, and DeMarcus Ganaway stepping in to keep the tradition alive, the new coach couldn’t be finding the cupboard any more stacked.

We would be remiss in not pointing out that Owensboro has not (traditionally) been a difficult place to play. We are talking about a program with 812-wins, ranking 27th on the national list of all time high school football programs.
Do we expect the Red Devils to have a formidable football team in 2025? Does a wild bear…never mind; you know the rest!
Among the reasons this program enjoys the success it does is its talent. This year will be no different.
Evan Hampton (’26) is among the best running backs at the high school level in the bluegrass at any classification. His brother, Elijah (’26, 104-tackles, 3-TFLs, and a FR), ain’t no dog and plays both ways manning a front line spot on offense in addition to his defensive exploits.
There are a plethora of stars in the junior class also, guys like Kalil Shemwell (’27) and Omarian Tee (2) Green (’27). So Ganaway is stepping into an enviable situation.
His only stars in the senior class are not named Hampton. There is Jalen Carr. Carr had around 50-tackles in ’24, registering two (2) TFLs to go along with numerous passes broken up (PBUs).
PBUs is not a stat all high school teams track. It is one we track particularly when keeping tabs on top corners and safeties.
Carr is a 6’0,” 165-pounder with inordinately long arms. He uses his length to both stun offenses and shut down the over the top stuff.

Carr is what we would term a lock-down corner. He makes appropriate reads and is capable of delivering knock out blows when getting down hill in run-defense.
Carr is holding two offers. There will be many, many more before his senior season is complete.
This is a guy to monitor as we get closer to the season. Remember from where you heard this.
