I would rather die a thousand deaths than betray a friend. -The other Sam Davis (November 27, 1863)
There have been some heroic people throughout history named “Sam Davis.” One of those is above mentioned in the heading. This Sam Davis’s football career is entering its twilight and we are sure he won’t meet the ignominious end of the other Sam Davis. Make no mistake however, this Sam Davis can flat play some football and undoubtedly much better than the other one! Davis has the frame and intangibles to be a next level QB.

Swimmer, Cody Miller, is my favorite athlete. I look up to him. He is easily my role model.

Mingua Beef Jerky wants you to become one of its many satisfied customers by sampling its quality hand sliced, all natural beef jerky. We know you’ll love it and come back for more, again and again.
Ronnie Mingua began experimenting with making beef jerky back in the 1990s. He shared his efforts with neighbors and friends, soon realizing he had come up with something different and superior to all other beef jerkies on the market. From these humble beginnings, Mingua Beef Jerky got its start.
Today, the Mingua Beef Jerky Company still prides itself on using its old-fashioned, all-natural recipes which offer outstanding products to customers across the nation. The recipes are a family tradition, passed down from generation to generation.
Our recipes and our quality ingredients, hand-cut from solid pieces of beef, are never chopped or formed like other brands, making our products superior and one of a kind. That would make our products similar to this week’s Protein Packed Performer, Class of ’23, QB, Sam Davis from Frankfort, Kentucky’s Frankfort High School, wouldn’t it?
Sam Davis started at QB for Frankfort in ’21. The statistic by which QB will most often be measured is wins/losses. With Davis at the controls, Frankfort High was 7-5 a year ago looking to improve on its 2nd-round exit at Kentucky Country Day.
A key aspect will be getting back for his senior year a quarterback who performed right well a season ago. Davis completed 101 of his 187-passing attempts for a completion percentage of a smidgen over 54%.
Davis threw for 1,452-yards and tossed 16-TD passes against his 10-thrown INTs. While a drop-back guy, Davis was still able to garner 3-rushing TDs and finish the ball club’s 4th leading offensive scorer a season ago in spite of QBs not being credited points for throwing TD-passes.
Those points go to the receivers. Lucky them.
Davis played a little defense. Now when thinking of the surname “Davis” around Frankfort, Kentucky in relation to playing defense most people think of twin brother “Jack” and with good reason. Jack Davis (also a ’23) had 35-tackles, 2-TFLs, and a QB-sack anchoring the defensive efforts a season ago. However, Sam got in on the show in a limited defensive run, intercepting a pass and returning that lone INT 26-yards.
Coach Ethan Atchley’s Panthers will need significant production out of the Davis boys, and on both sides of the scrimmage line, to make a deep run in the ’22 playoffs. Both of the Davis boys are smart enough to realize that reality.
Sam Davis has an enviable frame especially for a QB. While he is pretty thin and could use a little thickening, his being a full 6’2″ enables him to stand tall in the pocket and deliver the ball to his receivers. We believe he has a huge year upcoming.
Mingua Beef Jerky and we decided this talented and accomplished ’23 football player, and rising senior, could use a bolt of protein. The company volunteered to send him some straight away.
Join us next week as we honor another worthy player. Until then, pop some Mingua Beef Jerky in your mouth and savor the quality and flavor which sets it apart from all the competition. Remember, our product is superior and one of a kind; just like Franfort’s Sam Davis.
This is HB Lyon reporting for Kentucky Prep Gridiron reminding you that WE’RE JUST CALLING IT LIKE WE SEE IT and don’t forget to SAVOR THE FLAVOR!
