One of them (Tristin Dillard) is considered among the best RBs in Kentucky and is a member of the Team Kentucky FBU Elite squad and the other (Jack Whaley Long) is a relative unknown but is starting to demonstrate the skills requisite to achieve stardom at this and the next level. TaShawn McBroom had a really fine freshman year as the head football coach in Buckner, Kentucky at Oldham County High. The Colonels finished 8-3 and look to improve on that effort this coming season. It will start with the articulation of young talent from off the JV roster onto the varsity team. Caleb Wheeldon is one new addition to the varsity play rotation we believe will be counted on more and more as the year progresses. Enjoy this feature. HB.

When you get to Kentucky 5A, that is certainly denoted as “Big Boy Football” within the commonwealth. For instance, players playing two-ways or “iron man football” at the 5A level or higher gets increasingly rare but you will still see it and usually those pulling it off are really special talents. This prospect has been likened to Wandale Robinson. We watch him and believe him to be more of a Jay Becherer clone. This is a program which has been fluttering. However, it is also a 6A program which has plenty of talent on hand to compete vigorously with its District 1 opponents if combed and recruited to the roster with sufficient zeal. Here is our best guess at the five best teams heading into the ’22 season in the 3A classification. We were right on the money a year ago picking Belfry to win and Paducah to make the final game. We went to a recent Christian County Colonel football practice and to say ZaQuan Quarles ‘stood out’ would be understated. Quarles is listed at 6’2″ but we believe that may be a tad short and his wingspan is something about which to write an epic poem. We believe this is a kid some colleges out there should be very excited about recruiting.
