Colin Daniels and his Mustangs have a monster match-up this eventing at the Teal Field in Goshen, KY. Head Football Coach, Brock Roberts, will take on the hot as heck-fire, Atherton Rebels, and its enigmatic, young coach, Anthony White. The two teams are both 8-1 with 5A Atherton enjoying the larger of the two enrollments. The one promises to e epic and the commonwealth’s “Touchdown Leader,” Colin Daniels will figure prominently in the eventual outcome. We get to travel to Munfordville and play the Hart County Raiders this coming weekend. That is a very hard place to have to play and the Raiders (8-2) are a very well coached (Chad Griffin), and red hot team. The Raiders opened the year with a 4-point loss to Logan County (4A, 8-2) in Russellville. That should tell you something about the talent we will be playing in round one. Still, we have some pieces which might well trouble the Raiders; and, where two teams enter a football field, either of them may emerge, on any give night, the victor. We need this game and are hoping our seniors can rise up and deliver it. Let’s get ready to car-pool to Murray, KY and cheer our boys onto victory. In 1973, country artist Johnny Russell released a classic song about rednecks, white sox, and blue ribbon beer. The “blue ribbon beer” Mr. Russell was referencing in the song written by Wayland Holyfield and Bob McDill was Pabst Blue Ribbon. We don’t know whether Nathan Pabst is descended from the Frederick Pabst for whom the beer was named but we do know the penchant Nathan Pabst has for rendering on the football field a blue ribbon performance. Well, Nathan rendered such a performance last Friday Night against Erlanger, KY’s St. Henry’s. St. Henry’s is new to KHSAA football. We are very pleased to welcome Lasaters Coffee & Tea to our growing family of advertisers. The Kelley family has a very long history in the local football industry and several of the Kelleys have had their numbers retired owing to their familial history of playing excellence. We had a slight misstep on the road at Fort Campbell this past Friday night and return home to face one of the best 1A teams in the commonwealth of Kentucky, Kentucky Country Day from Louisville. We are going to have to start calling them the “Heartbreak Wildcats” pretty soon if things don’t start trending differently. Trigg County has dropped consecutive, one-point defeats to the toughest of competition under very strange and almost lightening-striking-ish type situations. Still, the play the team is getting from its sophomore QB is extraordinary. Cade Scott is a superlatively good, three sport, varsity athlete who excels at FB (QB), basketball (SG), and baseball (OF/LHP). He is completing nearly 75% of his passing attempts and putting the offense in situations where it should and, often has, thrived. Enjoy this feature on this wonderfully gifted and talented young football star.

Christian Academy-Louisville opened with Pikeville High at home and won the game 45-7. That is nice and all but it wasn’t the most significant occurrence on the field on the night in question. If you don’t believe us ask Reel Analytics. In their “Fastest Man” challenge, Pikeville’s Mikey Hager achieved a speed of 20.7 MPH in chasing down CAL RB, Jeffrey Vanzzana, who was traipsing down the sideline toward a score at the time. The ability to run down plays the rest or the team has given up on catching is a very recruitable attribute for college third level defenders. Enjoy this look at a kid on everyone’s radar.

We had quite the battle with Caldwell at home this past Friday night and the game turned on two fumble recoveries and a KO return for a TD comprising the 11-point difference between the two equally matched teams.
