Storm Warning: Central drops a winnable road game at Fort Campbell but has little time for pity parties as Kentucky Country Day (Louisville) is coming to “The Gap” @LasatersCoffee, @Ale8One, @bigassfans, @khsaafootball, @KyHighFootball, @HopkinsCentral, @_CoachManning

Like we have done in prior seasons, now the games are finally here, we will take the last week’s action and break it down and then look at the road ahead. We had a slight misstep on the road at Fort Campbell this past Friday night and return home to face one of the best 1A teams in the commonwealth of Kentucky, Kentucky Country Day from Louisville. Enjoy this feature and get out to the games this weekend. Remember, your hometown heroes need a little help from you! See you at the game!

We are going to have to start calling them the “Heartbreak Wildcats” pretty soon if things don’t start trending differently. Trigg County has dropped consecutive, one-point defeats to the toughest of competition under very strange and almost lightening-striking-ish type situations. Still, the play the team is getting from its sophomore QB is extraordinary. Cade Scott is a superlatively good, three sport, varsity athlete who excels at FB (QB), basketball (SG), and baseball (OF/LHP). He is completing nearly 75% of his passing attempts and putting the offense in situations where it should and, often has, thrived. Enjoy this feature on this wonderfully gifted and talented young football star.

Pikeville’s Mikey Hager flying against Christian Academy-Louisville…maybe the commonwealth’s fastest player @PikevilleHSFB, @CSS_TRAINING, @PrepRedzoneKY, @LippertScouting, @khsaafootball, @bigassfans, @KyHighFootball

Christian Academy-Louisville opened with Pikeville High at home and won the game 45-7. That is nice and all but it wasn’t the most significant occurrence on the field on the night in question. If you don’t believe us ask Reel Analytics. In their “Fastest Man” challenge, Pikeville’s Mikey Hager achieved a speed of 20.7 MPH in chasing down CAL RB, Jeffrey Vanzzana, who was traipsing down the sideline toward a score at the time. The ability to run down plays the rest or the team has given up on catching is a very recruitable attribute for college third level defenders. Enjoy this look at a kid on everyone’s radar.

What in the world is going on with the big A-Train (Atherton) these days. The Ravens have gone stock, raving mad. What is up with these guys posting double digit wins year after year? What will they do next, post a 10-0? This might just be the year for such an occurrence. Enjoy this feature and let’s keep it comfortable out there, Kentucky, while you allow us to help out in that regard.

Storm Warning: Central left reeling from tough home loss but braces for Rebel Horde @LasatersCoffee, @bigassfans, @khsaafootball, @KyHighFootball, @HopkinsCentral, @_CoachManning

Like we have done in prior seasons, now the games are finally here, we will take the last week’s action and break it down and then look at the road ahead. We had quite the battle with Caldwell at home this past Friday night and the game turned on two fumble recoveries and a KO return for a TD comprising the 11-point difference between the two equally matched teams. What should we expect in Elkton, KY this coming Friday Night? Well, we will break that down for you right here.

The Colonels open play tonight (Saturday, August 23, 2025). When the Red, White, and Blue take the home field they will be debuting a new weapon in the lineup in Anthony Gabriel, Jr. from California. Gabriel is a big-bodied kids who is fast, explosive, and athletic. On top of it all, he is also a very skilled football player who knows how the game is supposed to be played. Head on out to the Stadium of Champions tonight and watch a vastly improved version of the Colonels than the squad which opened its season a year ago. Keep an eye on that Gabriel kid too. He has a message for you.

Ryder Sandidge from Madisonville North Hopkins is a darn fine football player @markezz_25, @BlueGreyFB, @RSandidge2027, @All_American_Me, @Maroon_FB_MNHHS, @minguabeefjerky, @bigassfans, @LasatersCoffee, @khsaafootball, @KyHighFootball, @CentreFootball

There is a question around Madisonville concerning which commitment is his first ranking commitment between football and baseball. You see, Ryder Sandidge is a bone fide star in both sports. The simple answer is he is a college prospect in either sport and he shouldn’t have to choose in high school. Here is the bottom line, this kid is a three phase weapon in football who makes his team better by trotting out onto the field. At the end of the day, isn’t that really all we need to know?

For Garrard County to take the next step, a player like Dalton Flannery has to take a step… @FlanneryDalton, @Spencer15Crutch, @GarrardFB, @minguabeefjerky, @CoachJeffHester,@bigassfass, @khsaafootball, @KyHghFootball, @KatherineL58069

If you want to talk about a team on the rise, a team on a heater, may we suggest you buy Garrard County now before the price climbs too high. Spencer Crutchfield has come into the Lancaster, Kentucky and built the programs into quite a formidable one. Adding the games preeminent defensive coordinator in Jeff Hester certainly didn’t hurt. Now the Golden Lions have to develop the roster talent and get it deployed. One guy who should help going forward is rising senior Dalton Flannery. We like his frame, we like his athletic skill set, we love his demeanor and aggression. It is time to get on the field and get it done. Can’t wait to monitor this situation as we go along. Enjoy the feature.

Gavin Johnson from Hazard, Kentucky is the Big Ass Fans Kentucky Comfort Creator of the Week @Gjohnson1418, @coach_chandler @LasatersCoffee, @bigassfans, @minguabeefjerky, @khsaafootball, @KyHighFootball

August 14, 2025 Fletcher Long 0

This is a super freak athlete from the Appalachia mountains. His father, an attorney in Hazard, Kentucky, told us his vertical is slightly over 43-inches and that Gavin won’t stop till it tops 45. What that means is his reported 40-time of 4.58-seconds isn’t even close. Johnson is much, much faster than that! This kid is really a physical specimen and should be firmly in the “Mr. Football” race his senior year in spite of his playing 1A football. We have said this many times. There are good teams and bad teams in the KHSAA and they span all six (6) of Kentucky’s classifications. Enjoy this feature and let’s keep it comfortable out there, Kentucky. Allow us to help you out in that regard as we tell you the story of Gavin Johnson from Hazard, KY.

Jack Long, ’27 LB/Rover is the @minguabeefjerky Protein-packed Performer of the Week @CountyColonels, @HopHighTigers, @KatherineL58069,  @bigassfans, @khsaafootball, @KyHighFootball,

August 13, 2025 Fletcher Long 0

Jack Long is a kid we weren’t sure would get cleared to play the coming season. As it turns out, he got cleared by provided he wears a helmet specifically designed to avoid head trauma, limit his contact through the week, and be permitted to wear a concussion cap during KHSAA games. As it turns out, Jack’s rejoining the team was important for reasons other than football. One of Jack’s coaches suffered a medical incident related to his exertion in the heat and other medical issues he was suffering at the time and Jack, mid-scrimmaging, was observant enough to notice it and call attention to it. The early detection may have made all the difference in the world.
