We identified John Luke Minner as one of the best LBs in the KHSAA in 2024. That is why he made first team All-State on our Big Ass Fan’s Small School team. Coming into ’25 he figures to be on the list again provided he performs commensurate to how he performed a year ago. He has committed to play collegiately at Brown University in the Ivy Leagues. That is a Division I ride to one of the country’s most prestigious schools. If catching a ride to the Ivy Leagues isn’t prize worthy, we aren’t sure we know what is. Enjoy this feature and let’s keep it comfortable out there, Kentucky, while you allow us to help out in that regard.

The high school game is a game where players like Joel Murrah may flourish. It is his game. It is the game for the “Chapter 16” type kid, the “Football Playing Jesse.” If these references are unfamiliar to you, you need to read Sam Harp and my book, “Football 101: Boo-Boo’s a Quarterback.” There is a link at the bottom of this article, will take you right to where you can order. It is just $9.99 on “Kindle,” best ten bucks you will ever spend. Joel Murrah will help anchor the Storm front this coming year. He appears well equipped to handle the assignment. Enjoy the feature.

Ke’Avian Massey, DL/0L, Readying to explode onto the scene in this his senior season @keavian_massey, @khsaafootball, @KyHighFootball, @minguabeefjerky, @bigassfans, @jax_arnett, @glasgowdawgs

Ke’Avian Massey is a specimen. By that, we mean you won’t see too many high school linemen put together any better than his 6’3,” 245-pound frame. Massey made his all-region team a year ago on defense and has plenty of courtiers coming into the senior campaign. Massey had five sacks in ’24. Look for that number to double. Enjoy this look at a player who personifies the reason Glasgow is generally and consistently in the title race at its classification of competition.

Storm Warning, with nothing left but some Sevens throws, two scrimmages, and the opener what should we see from the Storm in ’25? @HopkinsCentral, @_CoachManning, @minguabeefjerky, @bigassfans, @khsaafootball, @KyHighFootball

July 10, 2025 Fletcher Long 0

It is that time of year. We are all coming out of the “Dead Period” and we want to know how our hometown, high school football team is likely to fare in the coming season? We have taken an in-depth look into one of our favorite teams, Hopkins County Central, and have attempted to forecast that very thing. Enjoy this breakdown of the Storm’s team and upcoming season. Let’s brace for the glorious season ahead enjoying this country’s greatest and most significant export.

Lincoln County has an Angel (Flores) on the OL @Angel_Flores72, @JasonFoley22, @jherron_5, @Southwestern_FB, @12thSports, @KYHighFootball, @PrepRedzone, @LC_patriots, @coach_Rogers08, @khsaafootball, @KyHighFootball, @minguabeefjerky, @bigassfans

There was a movie released by Disney in 1994 entitled “Angels in the Outfield.” It was a remake of a 1951 film of the same name. The remake starred Danny Glover, Tony Danza, and Christopher Lloyd and resulted in two (2), made for TV sequels. The movie was about a young child, in foster care, sarcastically told his family would reunite “when the Angels win the pennant” by his newly widowed father. Roger, the young boy who is the movie’s protagonist, prays for such and a group of angels appeared to help the team. At the end of the day, it was explained that while the “Angels in the outfield” helped the team surge to the top of the division, the “Angels” could not help the team win a title or championship. Well, Lincoln County looks to have gotten some Angelic assistance of its own in a 6’3,” 335-pound OL transfer from Southwestern with the surname of Flores. There are no heavenly imposed limitations on his assistance. Enjoy the feature.

Storm Warning: Kaijain Hayes back for his sophomore season looking to fulfill his immense promise @CoachJRiley_, @hayes_kaijain, @_CoachManning, @SylasGunn, @minguabeefjerky, @bigassfans, @khsaafootball, @KyHighFootball

KJ Hayes came up from middle school with tremendous promise. We predicted he would start varsity as a freshman. We were right. Hayes was put into the starting lineup after the opener where he remained until being lost to injury the fifth game of the year. Hayes has rehabbed this injury, reports being back 100%, and is looking forward to getting back on the field and giving his all to the fans, his teammates, and brothers. We predict a break out year for Cajun Hayes in ’25 and believe as he goes, so goes the Storm to a large extent. Enjoy this feature about a kid who plays an important role on this team and a guy about whom you may have well forgotten.

Jacob Litteral from Raceland Worthington High School is quite literally our Mingua Beef Jerky Protein-packed Performer of the Week @jlitt56, @racelandramsfb, @Bryson1Rowsey, @minguabeefjerky, @khsaafootball, @KyHighFootball, @bigassfans, @Ott_Football

July 2, 2025 Fletcher Long 0

There are loads of exceptions offensive linemen in Kentucky who may not have the “frame” and measurements to get recruited to the SEC or some other NCAA Division I (Power 4) conference type program. This doesn’t mean football isn’t in the cards and it certainly doesn’t mean the young men so afflicted won’t have tremendous college football experiences. Jacob Litteral is quite literally a beast, a dog, and a future college football player. Heck, a very good Ohio Athletic Conference team, from Westerville, OH (Otterbein), is all over this guy and who could possibly blame them? I am hoping this article gets some commonwealth programs on this guy, as we would like to see him stay home. Enjoy this feature on a kid very deserving of some of the world’s finest beef jerky products and don’t forget to #SavorTheFlavor out there in Raceland, KY.

The Barber of Bowling Green! Is he headed for a ‘Mr. Football?’ @BarberTrevy, @PurplesFootball, @CoachSpader, @minguabeefjerky, @bigassfans, @KyHighFootball, @khsaafootball

July 1, 2025 Fletcher Long 0

Figaro, the Barber of Seville, sings in the song, “Largo al factotum” that he has a role as the tows “factotum;” meaning Figaro does everything and is constantly in demand. Kind of sounds like Trevy Barber, the Barber of Bowling Green Senior High doesn’t it? Barber has a tremendous junior year where he led Bowling Green to another 5A championship catching 79-balls, for 22-TDs, housing a kick, and playing some defense while leading the team in scoring 9.2-points per in its fifteen (15) games played. What’s there left to do? Well, we believe this guy is a solid choice and frontrunner for the coveted “Mr. Football” award upcoming. If you were to bet on him, right now, to win that award it would be a solid wager. Enjoy this feature.

We see these hot-shot, gun slinger QBs come out of MS and look to challenge an incumbent for snaps every so often. It isn’t every year, but every five (5) or so years wouldn’t be a stretch. I once had a former college, SEC QB tell me the most popular position on any football team is the 2nd-string QB. If you think about it, it makes sense. Austin Jacobson is the best MS QB we have seen come down the pipe in a few years. He reminds us of Zane Johnson (Trinity) who defied all odds to lead the Shamrocks to the 6A title in 2023. Mason Trimble returns for St. Xavier and the rising junior had a very good season and looks to be getting some “Mr. Football” pub entering the ’25 opener. Trimble won’t hand the kid this job. However, should it get to the point his services are immediately needed, one could do much, much worse. Enjoy the feature.
