Well, the Danville, KY, near-IVY league college with the ancient and prestigious football program has done what it does seemingly every offseason. The Colonels have gained a commitment from arguably the best high school football player in the entire commonwealth. This guy has been wowing fans across the commonwealth since taking home the Championship Game MVP two-years ago. Now he takes his game to a larger stage and to the brighter lights of Andy Frye Stadium.

We have awarded some tremendous jerky products to some outstanding football players since the award’s inception. We have never awarded this prize package to a better football player than Harris Phelps from Paintsville, Kentucky. Playing 1A football kills kids chances of getting recruited at some levels of football and that is senseless. Where a family chooses to live and in what type environment the family chooses to rear a family, be it a small town or large one, has NOTHING to do with what kind of athlete or player the kid develops into being. We are at the win or go home point in the career of these seniors across the commonwealth. There will be a point in the not too distant future where we will stop featuring ’23’s to highlight the classes who will compete again next season in this seemingly endless merry-go-round.
