Paintsville RB/C finding ways to contribute…ways to win!

There is little doubt in this publication’s mind that Paintsville’s Harris Phelps is among the very best football players playing the high school game today at any level of competition. What this guy is doing under the lights is incredible, is one of the main reasons the Tigers are still in this thing, and may take them much farther than people coming into the playoffs expected.

[S]omething different and superior to all other beef jerkies…  KPGFootball on the quality of Mingua’s product

The known Beef Jerky consumption market, worldwide

Ronnie Mingua began experimenting with making beef jerky back in the 1990s. He shared his efforts with neighbors and friends, soon realizing he had come up with something different and superior to all other beef jerkies on the market. From these humble beginnings, Mingua Beef Jerky got its start.

Today, the Mingua Beef Jerky Company still prides itself on using its old-fashioned, all-natural recipes which offer outstanding products to customers across the nation. The recipes are a family tradition, passed down from generation to generation.

Our recipes and our quality ingredients, hand-cut from solid pieces of beef, are never chopped or formed like other brands, making our products superior and one of a kind. That would make our products similar to this week’s Protein Packed Performer, Class of ’23, RB/C, Harris Phelps, from Paintsville, Kentucky’s Paintsville High, wouldn’t it?

To say the Paintsville Tigers, coached by Trevor Hoskins, limped into the playoffs in ’22 might have been the understatement of the season. Going 4-5 in the regular season doesn’t inspire a ton of confidence in the faithful.

That isn’t all either. Paintsville finished ranked 18th in the 1A KHSAA Ratings Percentage Index (RPI) and had to go to entertain a visiting Bracken County in round one which had gone 7-2 in the regular season and was ranked eight (8) slots ahead of Paintsville in the self-same RPI.

That is when a team calls on senior leadership. In Paintsville, Kentucky in recent years that call generally is made to someone named “Phelps.”

Harris Phelps, like the Phelps who came before, was equal to the task. This last Friday night, Harris Phelps carried the football 19-times, gaining 220-yards on the ground, and scoring a rushing TD. Phelps caught three passes, one of which was for a TD, and led the team in offensive scoring in its big win.

Had he stopped with his offensive performance, a strong case would have been made to ship him some of the best jerky products in the world and a sweet T-shirt. However, his degree of excellence exceeded what he contributed offensively.

Phelps logged the team’s only INT on the night from his corner-slot. I mean, why not? Schools are recruiting this outstanding senior and studying his playing on either side of the scrimmage line.

Looking at the year the senior has put together, his numbers just sort of leap off the page

Looking at the year the senior has put together, his numbers just sort of leap off the page. Phelps has gained 1,316-yards rushing on 186-carries while scoring 14-TD’s. He has caught 19-passes on the year, five (5) of which went for TD’s. He is first on the team in scoring, has 37-tackles on defense, leads the team in INT’s (2), and has thrown in a fumble recovery for those who think the other numbers are just not enough.

Mingua Beef Jerky and we decided this talented and accomplished ’23 LB could use a bolt of protein. The company volunteered to send him some straight away.

Join us next week as we honor another worthy player. Until then, pop some Mingua Beef Jerky in your mouth and savor the quality and flavor which sets it apart from all the competition. Remember, our product is superior and one of a kind; just like Paintsville, Kentucky’s Harris Phelps.

This is HB Lyon reporting for Kentucky Prep Gridiron reminding you that WE’RE JUST CALLING IT LIKE WE SEE IT and don’t forget to SAVOR THE FLAVOR!
