This is a super freak athlete from the Appalachia mountains. His father, an attorney in Hazard, Kentucky, told us his vertical is slightly over 43-inches and that Gavin won’t stop till it tops 45. What that means is his reported 40-time of 4.58-seconds isn’t even close. Johnson is much, much faster than that! This kid is really a physical specimen and should be firmly in the “Mr. Football” race his senior year in spite of his playing 1A football. We have said this many times. There are good teams and bad teams in the KHSAA and they span all six (6) of Kentucky’s classifications. Enjoy this feature and let’s keep it comfortable out there, Kentucky. Wells played in a single game in ’24.
