Today we bestow on Cameron Bulle the highest honor known to this level of competition, the prestigious Protein-packed Performer of the Week from Mingua Beef Jerky. Enjoy this feature on a kid very deserving of some of the world’s finest beef jerky products and don’t forget to #SavorTheFlavor out there in Glasgow, KY.

Gavin Johnson from Hazard, Kentucky is the Big Ass Fans Kentucky Comfort Creator of the Week @Gjohnson1418, @coach_chandler @LasatersCoffee, @bigassfans, @minguabeefjerky, @khsaafootball, @KyHighFootball

August 14, 2025 Fletcher Long 0

This is a super freak athlete from the Appalachia mountains. His father, an attorney in Hazard, Kentucky, told us his vertical is slightly over 43-inches and that Gavin won’t stop till it tops 45. What that means is his reported 40-time of 4.58-seconds isn’t even close. Johnson is much, much faster than that! This kid is really a physical specimen and should be firmly in the “Mr. Football” race his senior year in spite of his playing 1A football. We have said this many times. There are good teams and bad teams in the KHSAA and they span all six (6) of Kentucky’s classifications. Enjoy this feature and let’s keep it comfortable out there, Kentucky. Allow us to help you out in that regard as we tell you the story of Gavin Johnson from Hazard, KY.

Storm Warning: Aaron Wells, ’27 OL/DL, is itching to prove he belongs on the first string @KatherineL58069, @LasatersCoffee, @minguabeefjerky, @bigassfans, @khsaafootball, @KyHighFootball, @HopkinsCentral, @_CoachManning, @evans02_mike

Wells played in a single game in ’24. However, the 6’3,” 330-pounder in the 2027 graduating class proved the old Stanislavski adage about there being no small parts, just small actors is true even in football. Wells is coming off a third place finish at the Kentucky Powerlifting Meet in the Super Heavyweight Division and the young OL/NG is expected to play both ways this season in addition to his defensive role. This is a guy readying for a prominent role in ’25, a leading role, and he has put in the type offseason a young player should looking for that type of varsity PT. Enjoy the feature.

Jack Long, ’27 LB/Rover is the @minguabeefjerky Protein-packed Performer of the Week @CountyColonels, @HopHighTigers, @KatherineL58069,  @bigassfans, @khsaafootball, @KyHighFootball,

August 13, 2025 Fletcher Long 0

Jack Long is a kid we weren’t sure would get cleared to play the coming season. As it turns out, he got cleared by provided he wears a helmet specifically designed to avoid head trauma, limit his contact through the week, and be permitted to wear a concussion cap during KHSAA games. As it turns out, Jack’s rejoining the team was important for reasons other than football. One of Jack’s coaches suffered a medical incident related to his exertion in the heat and other medical issues he was suffering at the time and Jack, mid-scrimmaging, was observant enough to notice it and call attention to it. The early detection may have made all the difference in the world.

Storm Warning: Connor Miles (’28 two-way lineman) is a man with many talents, many skills and entering the season healthy @HopkinsCentral, @_CoachManning, @minguabeefjerky, @bigassfans, @khsaafootball, @KyHighFootball

August 7, 2025 Fletcher Long 0

The high school game is a game where we don’t see a ton of 6’5,” 225-pound lineman, but we are generally excited when we do. This is a kid who excelled, this offseason, at powerlifting and that is generally a very good sign. It is the game for the “Chapter 16” type kids and some of your more traditional types; the Football Playing Jesses out there. If these referenced are unfamiliar to you, you need to read Sam Harp and my book, “Football 101: Boo-Boo’s a Quarterback.” There is a link at the bottom of this article, will take you right to where you can order. It is just $9.99 on “Kindle,” best ten bucks you will ever spend. Connor Miles will help anchor the Storm front this coming year. He appears well equipped to handle the assignment. Enjoy the feature.

Carson Bugg has been blessed by nature. He has the length major college coaches covet and the height and mass preferred for where he projects. Can’t get much better than that in life, huh? Yessir, it certainly is a “Bugg’s life,” this game of football. Come and read this feature about one of the more imposing linemen playing high school football today in the commonwealth of Kentucky. Enjoy this feature on a kid very deserving of some of the world’s finest beef jerky products and don’t forget to #SavorTheFlavor out there in Versailles, KY.

North Hopkins is big, fast, mobile, strong, powerful, and explosive all over the field on both sides of the scrimmage line. This is especially true upfront offensively. “The Bigs” don’t ever get enough credit in our humble opinion. Credit or no credit, North figures to have a RB in the thick of a “Mr. Football” race in 2025. To get there, or to get where the team wants to go, the Maroons will rely heavily (pardon the pun) on the five or six guys upfront. Enjoy this feature.

We continue to feature some of the better QBs in the KHSAA. That being said, there aren’t too many better than Holy Cross’s Jerek Hoover who is 6’0,” 170-pounds, threw for close to two-thousand yards last year while running for another 634, and scored or was responsible for 22-TDs running and throwing. Oh yeah, he sports a 3.7-GPAs. This is a guy who looks very recruitable to us, particularly if your program has a tough admission’s committee to by-pass. Enjoy this feature on a kid very deserving of some of the world’s finest beef jerky products and don’t forget to #SavorTheFlavor out there in Louisville, KY.
