We continue on with our offseason coverage not really discussing players of the week so much as discussing featured players and prospects. Gage Chapman is simply among the best multi-phase football talents in the Kentucky-wide, KHSAA football game today at any level. Gage came up from middle school among the commonwealth’s most talented players and has done nothing but confirm we were all right about him from the beginning. Chapman is only going to improve over his senior season, particularly on offense where he should get many more opportunities. Chapman is the kind of kid coaches want to coach and, in the end, that may be the finest compliment which can be paid to him (or any other kid). Enjoy the feature.

We will start out this all-state team with an admonition with which we begin every team we have ever published. We will miss on some guys. It is just important to note that your son not making out team doesn’t mean he wasn’t an all-state caliber player. Also, we expressly reserve the right to re-enter the team, even after it is published, and add worthy players who may have been missed or accidentally omitted. That being said, our small and large school All-State football teams, sponsored by Big Ass Fans, are the most expansive and complete teams in the business. This team here, and the coaches’s team published by the Courier Journal, are the only two legitimate teams in existence and we believe our team to be much more complete and legitimate than even theirs. Congratulations to the players who made the team and congratulations to the wonderful world of Kentucky high school football for providing us with the endless thrills and discussions we net from our following this, the greatest game on earth.

The Storm will close with Murray High (7-0), and then Crittenden County (4-3). It would be nice to slip on Murray and catch them looking ahead to 6-2 Caldwell, but hard to count on that. Regardless, you have to take teams one at a time. Murray High team presents an opportunity to play an opponent who may out-talent us a bit but who can have a bad night as easily as the next guy. We need this game and are hoping our seniors can rise up and deliver it. Let’s get ready to car-pool to Murray, KY and cheer our boys onto victory. Gage Chapman is a ’27 kid who is getting it done in the weight room. However, it needs to translate to the field and we saw glimpses of it doing just that in ’23. I will be perfectly honest here; I am a little surprised this kid didn’t play more over the course of the ’23 season. Every time his number was called, he did something great. Enjoy the feature.
