Well guys, we will be regularly appearing on two different podcasts this coming season. We will be on Cleats 2 Whistle and (of course) our own Friday Night Kentucky which will air for the third season with Scott Fitzgerald. This is just an example of the work required to be “Friday Night Fletch.” Welcome to my life, folks. I absolutely love it!

If you want to talk about a team on the rise, a team on a heater, may we suggest you buy Garrard County now before the price climbs too high. Spencer Crutchfield has come into the Lancaster, Kentucky and built the programs into quite a formidable one. Adding the games preeminent defensive coordinator in Jeff Hester certainly didn’t hurt. Now the Golden Lions have to develop the roster talent and get it deployed. One guy who should help going forward is rising senior Dalton Flannery. We like his frame, we like his athletic skill set, we love his demeanor and aggression. It is time to get on the field and get it done. Can’t wait to monitor this situation as we go along. We are very pleased to welcome Lasaters Coffee & Tea to our growing family of advertisers. The Kelley family has a very long history in the local football industry and several of the Kelleys have had their numbers retired owing to their familial history of playing excellence. Football has been very good to their family and they look for ways to give back to this very special community. Sam Simpson went 32-years coaching at two places not easy to win ball games. Marion County was five years and the other 27 were spent in Lexington at Henry Clay High. Simpson won 193-games at Henry Clay, taking the Blue Devils to one of its two visits to the title game. Henry Clay beat St. Francis DeSales back in 1981 for the 4A title under Jack Bell. Simpson would take the team on an improbably four (4) game run through the playoffs which ultimately ended in the title game against Mike Glasur’s Tigers. Well, that ended up like matchups with St. Xavier often do, with the Tigers leaving the field with victory. Enjoy this installment of our “Slow Motion Replay” series.

Well, it is the opening weekend of the high school football season in Kentucky. I have gone “hog wild” in picking 32 opening games looking for 28 or more “winners.” Can I do it? We shall see.

This guy here is off to a great postseason. He made our “Big School” All-State Football Team, was named the ’23 Defensive Player of the Year,” and appears headed to play collegiately at the FBS, Division I level. First we thought we might load him up with some protein-rich, all-beef jerky and a sweet T-Shirt. Congratulations to Bryan Station’s TJ Haskins, JR.
