We had a ton of Thursday Night action, so much that I published some “Thursday Night Picks” which I rarely do. I turned in a 12-1 on the night, perhaps I should change my name to “Thursday Night Fletch.” Just kidding. Madisonville ran its record to 7-0 for the first time since 1983 and Fort Campbell got its game with Trigg County rescheduled which was the right thing for Trigg to do as we can’t hold the kids at Fort Campbell accountable for a governmental shutdown. Hopefully, the gridlock will have been resolved by Halloween or thereabouts. Enjoy this look at the Madisonville-North Hopkins/Muhlenberg County game in this feature.

This is a special edition of our Big Ass Fans Kentucky Comfort Creator series. Keshawn Dixon, a senior RB/LB at 2A, Fort Campbell High, is posting some incredible numbers in this, his senior year. Unfortunately, this doesn’t stop the federal government shut down from shutting down his team, his coaches, his teammates, and his assault on the KHSAA statistical website among 2A and KHSAA players. We need to find some way to come together and end the gridlock. That is as close to a political statement as you will ever get from us. If we wanted to talk politics, we would cover it. The Storm welcomes a district one heavyweight to Morton’s Gap this Friday night. Union County comes to Morton’s Gap fresh off a finals appearance in 2024 and a 21-14 win over a Hancock County team coming off an 8-win campaign a year ago and 4-1 entering the contest with Union last weekend. This is a daunting task but certainly not an undoable one. An upset here would be so huge. We have the personnel and ability to deliver such an upset but we have to be on our game, healthy, and playing mistake free/penalty free (pre-snap/composure) football to prevail. Come on out to Morton’s Gap this weekend and take in this first district clash. For all intents and purposes, the real season starts tomorrow night.

Luke DeMoss is an unsung hero for the North Hopkins defense and one of the reasons the 5A team is 6-0 and contending for a title this season in the KHSAA. Today, his song is being sung. DeMoss is a nose guard who is also a championship caliber powerlifter and title holder from the heavyweight division at the Kentucky High School “Push-Pull (bench/deadlift) Championships.” DeMoss is also an incredibly hard guy to dig out of the A-gap and forces teams to double him up to get him out of there. The net result is…the Maroons are having a season for the ages. Enjoy this article about a special, young talent who has worked very hard to get where he is.

The Murray High Tigers have transformed under Head Coach Melvin Cunningham into a real Western Kentucky terror regardless of how large of an enrollment you may have at your disposal. The 3A juggernaut has just outlasted a 59-56 game against McCracken County and one of Kentucky’s more explosive offensive ball clubs. Wyatt Robbins (’26) is putting up “Gameboy” type numbers this season and Friday night was no different. His efforts, and the efforts of his teammates, have the Tigers sitting at 6-0 with four “winnable” games ahead. Enjoy this feature on this wonderfully gifted and talented young football star.

We are approaching for most teams the fifth or sixth game of the year. District play either started last night or begins for most teams next Friday Night. Point is, it is getting serious. We believe Pikeville is right in the thick of the 1A race, their record (3-3) notwithstanding. The polls around the Bluegrass would indicate we aren’t the only ones. There is something which seems to have worked well all year that the Panthers need to continue (in our opinion). Get the ball to Mikey Hager! He won’t let you down, we certify that as a FACT. The advice is free.

We thought we would head on over to the Derby City and catch up with one of our favorite RBs on one of our favorite teams. Parker Rudolph (’26) is a RB prospect who has the speed, power, and explosion (twitch) to play free or strong safety at the next level too. He can return kicks, punts, work the slot catching the ball, and use his backend separation speed and spacial quicks to gain a ton of after contact yardage. At Big Ass Fans, we reach out and impact all parts of Kentucky, large or small, wherever we are needed. Parker Rudolph is having a fine season particularly for a 1A RB on an undefeated, contending football team, so we thought we would honor him today. Storm Warning: Hopkins County Central lost a game to lightening, Mid-point Report Card, Russellville begins second half

Like we have done in prior seasons, now the games are finally here, we will take the last week’s action and break it down and then look at the road ahead. We got an unexpected off week when lightening precluded our playing Kentucky Country Day in a game which will not be rescheduled. We have a winnable game on the road tomorrow night against a team with tradition, second to none on this end of the commonwealth. Russellville High School is struggling this year (0-5) but this program played for the 1A title just a few short years ago (2021) and has won three titles (1980, ’83, and ’90) while playing for four (4) more (1964, ’66, ’87, and 2021) Enjoy this feature and get out to the games this weekend. Remember, your hometown heroes need a little help from you! See you at the game!
