The Kelleys have generously bought some tickets, at $10 per, for worthy high school kids in need of support to get to see the last game the Hoptown Tigers will ever play in Hopkinsville, KY. When we say “some tickets,” we’re talking 500 of them. For all the years I have known this couple and Steven in particular (51-years), that is just “The Kelleys.” Kind, faithful, Christian, generous; who would have thought I would come to admire so steadfastly the six year old kid who mowed me down at home plate in a pee-wee league, underhand pitch, baseball game in 1974. Madisonville North Hopkins rebounded from consecutive losses to puff Warren Central’s magic Dragons, 52-12, this past Thursday evening. The Maroons had nearly 400 yards of total offense and Mr. Football candidate, Markezz Hightower, chipped in 173-yards of his own. Ryder Sandidge contributed 93-rushing yards and a pair of TDs. Colin Daniels and his Mustangs have a monster match-up this eventing at the Teal Field in Goshen, KY. Head Football Coach, Brock Roberts, will take on the hot as heck-fire, Atherton Rebels, and its enigmatic, young coach, Anthony White. The two teams are both 8-1 with 5A Atherton enjoying the larger of the two enrollments. The one promises to e epic and the commonwealth’s “Touchdown Leader,” Colin Daniels will figure prominently in the eventual outcome. The Storm will close with Murray High (7-0), and then Crittenden County (4-3). It would be nice to slip on Murray and catch them looking ahead to 6-2 Caldwell, but hard to count on that. Regardless, you have to take teams one at a time. Murray High team presents an opportunity to play an opponent who may out-talent us a bit but who can have a bad night as easily as the next guy. We need this game and are hoping our seniors can rise up and deliver it. Let’s get ready to car-pool to Murray, KY and cheer our boys onto victory. We were talking with our friend, Rusty Goble the other day. Goble is the OC at Trigg County. He was excited to be getting a ton of talent back on the “active” roster from the “injured reserve.” According to Rusty, “We have everyone back with the exception of Peyton Williams. We may be the best one win team in KY.” Well, now they are a “two-win” team as they smoked the Rebels from Todd County 48-6, and with the help of this week’s PoW, just might be a dangerous team entering the playoffs.
