Jack Long was medically retired from the active roster in 2025. That doesn’t diminish from a young man who was a heck of a football player over the course of his varsity high school career. There will be those who will tell you the newly consolidated “Tigers,” from Christian County High, will go as far next season as players like Tremayne Clay can lead them. Clay is a talent and one of five (5) former Hoptown Tigers to make the Big Ass Fans’s Large School, All-State Football Team. The newly consolidated school shouldn’t hurt for talent and the Tigers are amassing an array of coaching talent to “put the team through its paces” in its upcoming inaugural season. Regardless, Clay will be critical. Good thing he is also extremely talented. Nehemiah Bailey got more PT than any other freshman on the last Hoptown roster. The two Christian County schools will combine in the Fall of ’26 and form one ball club. That team will have loads of talent. That team should be right formidable as a 6A, first district team. Who will quarterback this team? Last year’s starter at Hoptown is returning and Jasiah McCarley threw for a little over 2,000 yards and 20-TDs a year ago. McCarley will be a junior in ’26 and has an advantage in production and playing time. However, Bailey is 6’3,” 195-pounds and he sure passes the “eye test.” Today we feature Bailey and discuss his prospects unseating the incumbent QB-1. Stephan Lovan brings something to the table programs desperately need, particularly programs competing at the 6A classification. Lovan has a big body and a very versatile skill set with a variety of talents which lend itself well to playing in multiple phases of a football game. Lovan was among the offensive and defensive leaders for the former Christian County Colonels this past Fall and is set to lead the newly configured, conglomerate High School. Lovan’s multi-faceted, athletic tool belt and large, sturdy frame makes him more, not less, recruitable to colleges around the commonwealth. I once heard having an accomplished place kicker in the fold likened to finding a $20.00 bill in your dry cleaning. You may not know you even need $20.00 but it comes in handy when you are both hungry and thirsty and you find what you need just sitting in your pocket. Jayleigh Campbell is not just an accomplished placekicker who converted just over 81% of her PATs (9 for 11) but she is a a junior who should compete for the job at the newly consolidated high school. It must be something to realize your kicking game is so competently handled and looks to remain so for the foreseeable future. Congratulations to Jayleigh Campbell for being our ‘Wake Up and Smell the Coffee (or Tea)’ Player of the Week from Lasaters Coffee & Tea where you are more than served, you are loved!

We have been going around and congratulating some of our advertisers who helped promote some of these kids right on the small or large school all-state football team. Yesterday, we congratulated some kids who made both the Bank of Cadiz award list and one of the two teams and today we do similarly for Lasaters Coffee. The truth is we have some wonderful sponsors among our family of advertisers and many of these companies know a quality player who seeing one. Aiden Jesse comes from a Hopkinsville family which knows a thing or two about the receiver position. Father, Maurice, was a star WR in his day playing for the Hoptown Tigers. Son, Reece Jesse, set several all-time, receiving records in his day out wide for the Tigers. Little brother, Aiden Jesse, has been a terror and a star for the last edition of the Hoptown Tigers football team to ever take a playing field. You boys will be missed, know that! We just couldn’t say goodbye without one final tip of the hat to what was an incredible performance by Aiden Reece in the second round of the 6A, KHSAA football playoffs and the last game of football the Hoptown Tigers will ever play. Well done, young man.
