There is a question around Madisonville concerning which commitment is his first ranking commitment between football and baseball. You see, Ryder Sandidge is a bone fide star in both sports. The simple answer is he is a college prospect in either sport and he shouldn’t have to choose in high school. Here is the bottom line, this kid is a three phase weapon in football who makes his team better by trotting out onto the field. At the end of the day, isn’t that really all we need to know?

It is easy to get caught up in the Markezz Hightower fan fare. Hightower is a fantastic ball player, an all state running-back, and coming off a near 1,800- total yards season with 21-TDs scored running and receiving. That aside, Hightower isn’t running a one-man band over there at North. Jayden Travis is a hulking TE with good speed, excellent power numbers, a fine GPA, and a 280-pound power clean evidencing tremendous explosion. Travis is coming off a 25-reception season himself and that is darn-fine playing on a run first team at the TE slot. This guy will field some offers in short order. If he has the kind of season in ’25 he had in ’24, look out 5A because the Maroons will be looking to improve drastically over the 7-4 it posted in ’24. It is that time of year. It is time to start figuring which teams, entering the ’25 season, figure to factor in the title chase. We have detailed what we think here and it is based on our study of the incoming, ’25 rosters, what players return, what players graduated, and other various factors we have perfected through the years to render such predictions. We plan to do this for all of Kentucky’s six (6) classifications and there is no guarantee we will go in order from the top down, or the bottom to the top. There are good football teams in the KHSAA and there are bad ones and those teams span all of the six classes. Enjoy today’s look at 5A. The Storm have a huge mountain to climb Friday night as it travels to Badgett Stadium, cross town, to play a red hot Maroons team from North-Hopkins. North is 2-0 and ranked the 22nd best football team in Kentucky regardless of classification. We’re not sure there has ever been a Maroon’s team more highly regarded. Destin Cheirs, when last we heard, was going to attend Murray State and try his hand at Ohio Valley Conference Football. Well, it would appear he will aim his sights a bit higher. Cheirs has the opportunity to “bet on himself” and attempt to make the Louisville Cardinals football team which competes at the FBS, Power-5 level (ACC). In the end, it was too good of an opportunity to not risk it.
