We continue on with our offseason coverage not really discussing players of the week so much as discussing featured players and prospects. Aiden Ellington is a kid with a ton of tough, great size, and who played middle school ball last year and will play varsity this coming Fall. Aiden is only going to improve as he fills out and develops. Ellington is already enjoying success with the powerlifting team on the high school level. Ellington is the kind of kid coaches want to coach and, in the end, that may be the finest compliment which can be paid to him. Enjoy the feature.

Cooper Adams is a kid with a ton of tough who played eight games of varsity run as a freshman and is only going to improve as he fills out and develops. Adams is an accomplished wrestler who was a Kentucky champion in middle school and already enjoying success as a varsity grappler on the high school level. Adams is the kind of kid coaches want to coach and, in the end, that may be the finest compliment which can be paid to him. Enjoy the feature.

Bryce Huseman is a guy who only got run his sophomore year in eight games. That notwithstanding, the kid had one heck of a year and studded out statistically in many critical categories. For the Trigg County Wildcats to reach the program’s full potential, the program will have to harness and develop more talent like Huseman. This offseason will be absolutely critical in regard to that goal. We are going to have to start calling them the “Heartbreak Wildcats” pretty soon if things don’t start trending differently. Trigg County has dropped consecutive, one-point defeats to the toughest of competition under very strange and almost lightening-striking-ish type situations. Still, the play the team is getting from its sophomore QB is extraordinary. Cade Scott is a superlatively good, three sport, varsity athlete who excels at FB (QB), basketball (SG), and baseball (OF/LHP). He is completing nearly 75% of his passing attempts and putting the offense in situations where it should and, often has, thrived. Enjoy this feature on this wonderfully gifted and talented young football star.

Brody Calhoun is an example of a star HS player who is very likely to play in college but at what competitive level we aren’t in a position to accurately forecast. You see, there is a possibility Calhoun isn’t done growing so to know at what college level he may play we would have to speculate how his frame finishes. We just aren’t in a position to know. Calhoun’s on field production is “off the charts” as the rising junior has made close to 160-career tackles and hasn’t taken his first 11th-grade class yet. We are approaching “Dead Period” so get ready. Not much lies on the other side of “Dead Period” apart from two preseason scrimmages and opening night. We’re ready. We hope you are. Timmy Williams, a ’28 athlete and quarterback, came out of the middle school ranks among the more ballyhooed prospects the western Kentucky MS ranks could muster. Williams was off to a fast start when he got derailed by injury in the second week. If this guy can stay healthy, he could have a really solid sophomore campaign. So could the Trigg County Wildcats who have stepped down to 2A and will now face Mighty Mayfield on a yearly basis.
