Bruce Willis, a dual-threat, 2027 QB from West Tennessee who moved (luckily) into Murray High’s district this offseason, led his new team to an impressive, 58-50, double-overtime victory over Class 5A, first District contender Owensboro Apollo. Willis looks in firm control of Melvin Cunningham’s offense and able to deliver the type offensive production necessary for the Tigers to make another run at the Class 3A, KHSAA football title this year. Willis doesn’t throw it quite as well as last year’s QB (Wyatt Robbins) but he runs it better and the result in a dynamic, versatile offense that will be hard for 3A, western KY defenses to manage. Murray High had a tremendous signal caller in 2025 who has moved on to the Murray State Racers and will now play on Saturdays. Still, Melvin Cunningham has built an enviable program while at Murray High and his Tigers figure to be in the title chase again in 2026. Lots of big-bodies on that Tiger roster. Lots of athletes on that Tiger roster. There is even a transfer from Dresden, TN who comes to town well thought of, successful, and much ballyhooed for his prior on-field successes. HIs name should be familiar to you. It is Bruce Willis, the same as the Hollywood “leading man,” Bruce Willis. This guy is a load, plays QB, lists MLB as his defensive position (which should tell the reader something of his demeanor and disposition), and is equally dangerous breaking down defenses with his arm or his legs.
