Just to give you an idea the role Kentucky Prep Gridiron plays in the promotion of the kids we cover, we thought it would be neat to look at this year’s AP All-State Football Team and see just how many of them have, either formerly or presently, make one of our All-State Teams. This kid is a former Bret Cooper Middle School All-American, like Austin Gough who has gone on before him, and he played in 8 games for one of Kentucky’s very best high school programs as a freshman. His best days are definitely ahead of him but his play this year was outstanding in light of where he plays and the graduating class of which he is a member. Enjoy this article about Savon Hines from Owensboro (Senior) High School. HB.

December 28, 2019 Henry Lyon 2

This week we award our prestigious Revolutionary Player of the Week to an eighth grader presently in Dallas, TX to play for the East All-American squad in the Bret Cooper Junior Academic All-American football game. Inclusion on either the East or West rosters is a tremendous honor for a middle school player and we believe this article will disclose why this week’s recipient is hardly just any middle school football player. Enjoy the article and congratulations to Owensboro Middle School’s Jak Lindsey.

Gough to start against Henderson County

Gough is used to doing things well before anyone thinks he can. He started at one of Kentucky’s premier high-school programs as a freshman, he set the school’s single-season tackle mark as a sophomore, he made the AP All-State Football First-Team as a sophomore. The list just never seems to end. When he broke his leg the projections were he would be through for the year. Well, in keeping with Gough tradition, he was cleared to return to action in game 9. This makes him available for the playoffs, rested and full speed. Owensboro, at 8-1, was winning even without its marquee superstar. Imagine what they will do in the playoff run with him. Boggles the mind, doesn’t it?

There is no better time than the present to anoint another Independence Bank player of the week. Independence Bank is proud to sponsor a weekly article highlighting players in the areas where Independence Bank flourishes who embody the same type of revolutionary service to their respective football teams which has made Independence Bank unique and special in the banking industry. This week’s recipient is a player who didn’t suit up last week, and we believe that to be a first for this particular award. Join us next week as we designate another worthy award winner.

Believe me, their time will be here before you can possibly. believe. Enjoy this regular, in-season, look at what is going on down on the farm. HB.

We have wandered through the abyss that is the KHSAA “Dead Period” and into the first day of real preparation for the 2019 season. We call this the “first day” as (for most high schools) June practice is volitional. There is nothing volitional about July practice. We will be hard […]
