The Colonels open play tonight (Saturday, August 23, 2025). When the Red, White, and Blue take the home field they will be debuting a new weapon in the lineup in Anthony Gabriel, Jr. from California. Gabriel is a big-bodied kids who is fast, explosive, and athletic. On top of it all, he is also a very skilled football player who knows how the game is supposed to be played. Head on out to the Stadium of Champions tonight and watch a vastly improved version of the Colonels than the squad which opened its season a year ago. Keep an eye on that Gabriel kid too. He has a message for you.

We identified Levi Clemmons as one of the best LBs in the KHSAA in his ’28 graduating class. We will stand by that prediction with this prospect entering his 10th-grade season a likely starter. That is why he made FBU’s “Top Gun” combine. That is why he made O-D’s Freshman All-American team. Coming into ’25, Clemmons figures to be on the list again provided of prime time linebackers provided he performs commensurate to how he is capable. This kid figures to start appearing on college recruiting boards really, really soon. Enjoy this feature and let’s keep it comfortable out there, Kentucky, while you allow us to help out in that regard.

Storm Warning: The Storm needs a strong year out of Kamran Harrison @LasatersCoffee, @minguabeefjerky, @bigassfans, @khsaafootball, @KyHighFootball, @HopkinsCentral, @_CoachManning

Kamran Harrison is a “Harrison.” There are those of you who have followed this program for many years who will not need the first statement explained. Kamran is a kid who was expected to do big things last season, and was doing big things, until injury derailed his season. Having him return to the lineup fully healthy makes the Storm a better ball club. The Storm don’t get players as good as Kam Harrison everyday. When the program gets a Kam Harrison, it is important to make it count. Enjoy this edition of Storm Warning.

Storm Warning: Aaron Wells, ’27 OL/DL, is itching to prove he belongs on the first string @KatherineL58069, @LasatersCoffee, @minguabeefjerky, @bigassfans, @khsaafootball, @KyHighFootball, @HopkinsCentral, @_CoachManning, @evans02_mike

Wells played in a single game in ’24. However, the 6’3,” 330-pounder in the 2027 graduating class proved the old Stanislavski adage about there being no small parts, just small actors is true even in football. Wells is coming off a third place finish at the Kentucky Powerlifting Meet in the Super Heavyweight Division and the young OL/NG is expected to play both ways this season in addition to his defensive role. This is a guy readying for a prominent role in ’25, a leading role, and he has put in the type offseason a young player should looking for that type of varsity PT. Enjoy the feature.

The Dog Pound: Could Hazard be even better than we forecasted a couple months ago? @minguabeefjerky, @coach_chandler, @bigassfans, @khsaafootball, @KyHighFootball, @Gjohnson1418,

August 13, 2025 Fletcher Long 0

We almost never know what to make of transfers. It seems, more and more, teams are picking up transfers and it becomes difficult to track. Our policy has always been not to comment on transfers until the young men have been cleared to play. Well, the Hazard Bulldogs picked up three huge transfers and all three have been cleared for play. What does it all mean. Hazard already boasts one of the finest and more talented rosters in the KHSAA 1A classification. Well, we think it means Hazard may be even better than we predicted in June. Enjoy the article.

We get requests more frequently than you might think. However, there are requests and then there are requests from legendary football coaches like Mike Holcomb. I am sorry and this might not be fair but a request from Holcomb is going to carry a little more weight around KPGFootball than a requested from Boo-Boo’s mom. If you don’t know who “Boo-Boo” is, you need to read Sam Harp and my book. Anyway, Holcomb asked us to feature Hubert Broaddus and we called on historian, John Lovell to help us out with the assignment. Thank God for John Lovell. Enjoy the feature.
