Lasaters...time to wake up and smell the coffee!

’27 OL has the ability to play inside or out and both ways

We like featuring the bigs at KPGFootball. They very rarely get any ink and are the cornerstone of any good football team. Besides that, this prize package includes breakfast and who needs feeding more than the Hogs upfront? Sometimes you have to just “let the big hogs eat.” We like Christian County’s Stephan Lovan, Jr. and we aren’t the only ones. Lovan has been described by his position coach as physical, aggressive, and able to play at either guard or tackle along the OL. That is the type of versatility a team in a rebuild particularly covets and absolutely needs.

Christian County (Hopkinsville), KY: Christian County High School is in the midst of a rebuild. We believe the Colonels will be vastly improved over the unit which took the field in ’24 but, in all honesty, there is quite a ways to go.

One reason for our confidence in the Colonels fortunes is the addition to the coaching staff of Kelly Myers. Myers was the head football coach at a storied Tennessee program (Springfield High) and was on a staffs at various other Tennessee high schools which strung up 30-consecutive wins and a pair of TSSAA (Tennessee) “Big Boy” titles.

We asked Coach Myers how the front is looking thus far in the project, and he had some nice things to say about ’27 OL, Stephan Lovan, Jr. According to his new position coach (who would certainly know), Lovan is one of the more physically gifted, athletic, and aggressive front line guys on the Colonels’s present play roster and is our Lasaters Coffee & Tea, Wake Up and Smell the Coffee Player of the Week.

Lovan is physical and aggressive and at 6’0″ 240-pounds has room on his frame for some good heft

Kelly Myers

Last season, in ’24, Lovan was a steady and consistent performer. Lovan was a sophomore on a 6A roster getting steady and consistent PT in a season most players are fighting to find the Friday Night field.

Lovan is a 6’0,” 240-pounder with good leg kick and mobility. Lovan has fluid hips, good feet with the punch to cave in a breast plate and make a bull rusher think twice about whether he should choose a different technique.

Lovan is a fresh-faced kid, especially for a rising junior, who may still have some lengthening in his future. If this kid should add two (2) to three (3) inches, and 25-30 more pounds “the right way,” Lovan could creep up on some big-time recruiting boards before it is all through.

Coach Myers tells KPGFootball “Lovan has been a pleasant surprise thus far in my employment with the school and its football program. Lovan is physical and aggressive and those two characteristics can cover a lot of short comings in the game of high school football.”
