Speaking of a Robertson County prep football player making a home, how about the home sophomore Izik Rector is making for himself in the Bobcats’ backfield? We have often said, at KPGFootball, that a high school football star will enter the lineup sometime during his sophomore season. Now rising 9th graders are entering high school larger, more explosive, and more powerful than at any time in the past but, unless the program is experiencing real hardship, freshmen shouldn’t be logging much time on Friday Nights. There are, of course, always exceptions. Sometime during the sophomore year, however, is when the stars will both start shining and entering the starting lineup.

A sophomore from the Greenbrier High School Bobcats has wasted no time asserting himself. Izik Rector is a two sport star at Greenbrier, also playing varsity basketball. The 2021 standout is 5-10 and weighs 175 pounds and has shown the shake and speed to be the featured back and the size and disposition to play fullback too. On defense, Rector plays MLB; which should give you some idea about his mind-set visa vie contact. Greenbrier is going to really need Rector to step up as the 2-4 Bobcats still have to play Montgomery County Central, 6-0; Springfield High School, 4-2; before ending the year with hated rival White House, 4-1. In its final four games, the only team with a losing record it will face is Cheatham County, 2-4, and they will have to travel to Ashland City, October 5, for that contest. If you ask me, Rector’s asserting himself is something the Bobcat fans would tell you is just in the [Izik] of time…

Congratulations to Izik Rector for being selected this week’s Stewart Williams Furniture Company’s Robertson County Player of the Week. Join us next week as we anoint a new recipient.
