Jalen Dantzler is either the best athlete in the high school game in Kentucky or certainly among them. This kid, frankly, has shown this offseason a penchant for doing physical things other kids just can’t. This kid is running the 40 in under 4.4-seconds, shuttling in the low 4.2’s, broad jumping close to 11-feet, all while standing a minimus of 6’2,” with a long reach and lengthy frame which may even add an inch or two before it is all said and done. This kid had a dynamite junior season for the Yellow Jackets and figures to add a senior year for the story books. At the end of the day, Jalen Dantzler is a high end, Division I backend guy with all the physical attributes and characteristics coveted by the “Big Boys.” Enjoy the feature.

Jason Dernocoeur is a guy who has loads of promise and appears prepared to do lots of work to develop into the type player he wants to be. He is built like an interior offensive lineman, wears the number of a guard or center, but will probably have to pull “double duty” through much of his high school career. This young guys has shown he has what it takes to get it done. Carter Smith is indicative of the type youth movement the Lakers are enjoying since bringing on Coby Lewis to head its football program. Smith is a young, two-way lineman with a sturdy frame and very good power numbers in the weight room. This offseason will be critical for this prospect as the team will go as far in ’26 as two-way linemen like Smith can take it. Central High has quite the football tradition. From William Keane to Ty Scroggins to Marvin Dantzler, the Yellow Jackets are seemingly always in the title hunt in 3A, KHSAA football. The Jackets had a down year in ’25 and Dantzler decided to move along (volitionally) and now Coach McKay gets his turn in the batter’s box and at the helm of one of Kentucky’s more athletic rosters. Having a QB returning who is steady, athletic, and super smart (like Phillip Baker, Jr.) should prove a huge boon. Baker is a guy who figures to play either in the slot, as a return specialist, or even as a DB at the collegiate level. For now, this Big Ass Fans Kentucky Comfort Creator has to lead his mates back to the program’s customary position challenging for the 3A, Kentucky-wide, crown. Enjoy the feature.

Every high school has an all-time football coach. Some of these guys are in the KHSAA Hall of Fame and others of them aren’t well known outside of their territories. Regardless, all of these guys were great and have wonderful attributes which made them the kind of men for whom families, for generations, have entrusted their sons. Hoover Niece, a KHSAA Hall of Famer, was such a coach and we believe Austin Moore is headed in a great direction. Enjoy this look at a kid named for a famous prophet but whose future success doesn’t take a prophet to foresee.

We are always looking for the next big thing on any high school’s roster. It is no secret the Falcons will have to replace a pair of all-timers and all-staters in Perryman and Dixon. From where will the “next wave” of production come? Well, we have studied the situation and would be very surprised if Mr. Keshaun Tipton didn’t take a huge step forward in his sophomore season. What he did as a freshman is cause for optimism we would submit. The Centre Colonels recruit better than almost any small college in the Kentucky area. Chief among the reasons the Colonels are viewed as such a prestigious offer by area prospects is Centre’s standing among peer institutions, the quality of the education it both help funds and provides to it student body, its prestigious history, its second to none facilities, and its second to none social, academic, and even athletic opportunities the school provides to and for its student body. Centre is a big leagues school which attracts big time talent to its athletic programs, football included, (perhaps) football especially. Centre has struck oil again plucking out of Fort Myers one of Florida’s premier safeties. Justin Rode is a coach’s son, has the football IQ that entails, carried a 4.1-GPA and an SAT of 1200, and brings an element of power, speed, and twitch which should be reminiscent of another former Colonel great from E-Town.
