The Storm have a closing stretch of Webster County (1-6), Murray High (7-0), and then Crittenden County (4-3). It would be nice to slip on Murray and catch them looking ahead to 5-2 Caldwell, but hard to count on that. Regardless, you have to take teams one at a time. This Webster County team presents an opportunity to play an opponent we have the horses to beat, even in Dixon. We need this game badly and are hoping our seniors can rise up and deliver it to us. Let’s get ready to car-pool to Dixon, KY and cheer our boys onto victory. First read this…it will get you prepared for the road ahead.

Central is off this week. With the injuries we have suffered this season, and with the effect on our bottom line having some of these kids limited has caused, this off week may have come at the exact right time. We need to get healed up and ready for the Webster, Murray, and Crittenden stretch run towards the playoffs. If we run the table, we are assuredly in the playoffs. The Storm welcomes a district one heavyweight to Morton’s Gap this Friday night. Union County comes to Morton’s Gap fresh off a finals appearance in 2024 and a 21-14 win over a Hancock County team coming off an 8-win campaign a year ago and 4-1 entering the contest with Union last weekend. This is a daunting task but certainly not an undoable one. An upset here would be so huge. We have the personnel and ability to deliver such an upset but we have to be on our game, healthy, and playing mistake free/penalty free (pre-snap/composure) football to prevail. Come on out to Morton’s Gap this weekend and take in this first district clash. For all intents and purposes, the real season starts tomorrow night.

Storm Warning: Hopkins County Central lost a game to lightening, Mid-point Report Card, Russellville begins second half

Like we have done in prior seasons, now the games are finally here, we will take the last week’s action and break it down and then look at the road ahead. We got an unexpected off week when lightening precluded our playing Kentucky Country Day in a game which will not be rescheduled. We have a winnable game on the road tomorrow night against a team with tradition, second to none on this end of the commonwealth. Russellville High School is struggling this year (0-5) but this program played for the 1A title just a few short years ago (2021) and has won three titles (1980, ’83, and ’90) while playing for four (4) more (1964, ’66, ’87, and 2021) Enjoy this feature and get out to the games this weekend. We had a slight misstep on the road at Fort Campbell this past Friday night and return home to face one of the best 1A teams in the commonwealth of Kentucky, Kentucky Country Day from Louisville. We tried to tell everyone Prestonsburg was back last year when the team posted 11-wins against 2-losses. Everyone got too caught up in P-burg’s late season loss to Breathitt, a Breathitt squad with a very young offensive backfield which had grown up quite a bit by the 1st of November. Anyway, Prestonsburg just beat the best team on its schedule in overcoming Hazard in Prestonsburg this pas Saturday. We had a slight misstep at home with North Hopkins this past Friday night and the trip to Fryar Stadium to play Fort Campbell means the sledding will not get much easier.
