How recruiting REALLY works…

July 25, 2020 Henry Lyon 0

Recruiting has become quite the animal, if we are being honest, particularly in football. It seems, more and more, like the ability to play the actual game means less all the time. College recruiters call on high school coaches less and less in evaluating talent for their incoming classes. Evaluation […]

Recruiting…How Do You Know Who’s Really Looking at You?

May 9, 2020 Henry Lyon 0

The late Whitney Houston recorded a song with the lyric “how do I know if he really loves me?” The same question runs through the minds of parents about college recruiters who very often toy around with their student-athlete’s affections. We believe we may have discovered something weighty about how to tell when a school is interested versus feigning interest. That information is in this article and for the exclusive use of our subscribers. That’s why you pay us “the big bucks.” Enjoy the article and try to learn something. HB.

Will there be a season? We don’t know the answer to that. In this article we talk about it, what some kids are doing with the down-time, and what we think about the chances and how one should act accordingly. Enjoy the article. It is the most about politics we will EVER discuss. HB.

Junior Day Invite…Should you go?

February 4, 2020 Henry Lyon 0

Junior Day invites are going out and many of the players we have before featured are getting them. Parents called us all day asking what a Junior Day invite really means. We get asked (all the time) to tell this school or that whether this player or that can play at the school’s level of competition. This article contains what he told us…

Scrimmage results are flying across chat rooms, newspaper headlines, and blogs all over the commonwealth of Kentucky. The winners believe it is a credible forecast of success, the losers either believe the team was trying to “not show too much” or it is a forecast of a forthcoming “long year.” Well, truthfully, neither is true. Enjoy this article about scrimmages and why the outcome shouldn’t either dampen or intensify your seasonal expectations.

Darion Dearinger, Class of 2021, Schools better hop on this train before it leaves the station…

This is a phenomenon we discussed with Darion’s father just yesterday. Why was EKU the first to evaluate Dearinger and then only offer after two bigger, more prestigious schools pulled the trigger. Do they believe FBS schools are better at evaluating prospects than the coaches they have hired? Don’t know, but FCS schools slow-walking obvious Division I, FBS-Level talent is a strategy which some coach at that level might want to explain to us sometime. We don’t see the benefit of arriving at the station after the train has departed.
