Coach Atchley continues to add to his staff at Christian County as the two area high schools march toward consolidation. The new Colonel head man appears bent on bring back on staff coaches from the not too distant past who remember what a championship caliber program resembles. Ethan Atchley is known throughout Kentucky as a program builder and a football coaching savant. Now he is known as Christian County High’s new football coach. Atchley brings a proven track record of developing college ready talent, winning and competing for championships, and building programs, which have been struggling, to commonwealth-wide prominence. Coach Manning really had that South Hopkins football program humming. How much you ask? Well, they aren’t but a few years removed from playing for a KYMSFA state championship. We believe this is the first time we have awarded the Jerky Prize package to a head football coach. Well, it isn’t exactly everyday some head football coach celebrates his 350th win. There have only been two others in HS history in Kentucky to have had such a celebration, Phillip Haywood and Dudley Hilton. Enjoy this feature about a tremendous football coach who appears headed straight to the HOF. There is some precedence for this award being given to a coach and not a player. We have a distinct recollection of having done it one time prior to this, but even should our memory be faulty, it is high-time it happened. Quality coaching makes such a difference at the High School level of competition and The Storm has hired a great coach to help “coach-up” the QB-position, which is loaded this year (by the way) on The Storm’s ’21 roster.
