’27 TE/DE among the commonwealth’s, preseason, “Nifty-Nichols”

Brayden Winchester is a load. Winchester is 6’3,” 225-pounds of twitchy, explosive, muscle and sinew. As a junior, Winchester registered 49-tackles, 14.5-sacks, and eight (8) TFLs. Winchester holds the program record for career sacks (18.5), sacks in a season (14.5), and tied for sacks in a single game (3). Winchester was third in Kentucky a season ago in sacks and made our Big Ass Fans, Large School, All-State Football team. We announced the Lasaters Coffee & Tea, preseason “Nifty-Nichols” and he made that team too. There is very little this kid can’t do and we look forward to seeing an expanded offensive role for this kid in ’26 to go along with what he brings defensively.

The Bank of Cadiz & Trust Company, based in Cadiz, Kentucky, was founded August 7, 1970. The bank obtained trust powers in 1978.

Murray, KY

It is a locally owned, independent bank which has expanded, through the years, to locations in Hopkinsville and Murray in addition to Cadiz. The Bank of Cadiz & Trust Company has focused on community finance and dealing face-to-face with both families and small-business owners while fulfilling customer needs and the dreams of area families and businesses regardless of size or construct.

We, like our area schools, strive for high performance and finding ways to prosper in an ever-changing economic environment. The Bank of Cadiz & Trust Company remains committed to superior performance goals coupled with an exceptional quality of customer service.

’27 TE/DE, Brayden Winchester was among the local, young, high school athletes who also rendered a superior performance while achieving exceptional quality this past season. What will this budding star player pull in his coming senior season? We can’t wait to see.

That is why Winchester is our Feature of the Week. If history should repeat itself, whatever he does will be special and on both sides of the scrimmage line.

Murray, KY: We aren’t too far from embarking on another glorious football Fall. Right now, in the midst of our offseason coverage, we are forecasting which players are likely to be all-star/all-state caliber heading into the season.

6’3,” 225, built like a brick crap-house

This is hard to do. We will omit some players who should have been featured and we will feature some whose performances will fail to live up to the hype.

Either way, this is what makes being a fan worthwhile and fun. The ability to make such forecasts is what makes us the leading digital football magazine in the business.

We have recently published the Lasaters Coffee & Tea, preseason, “Nifty-Nichols.” These were the 55 (or so) players, across the commonwealth, who we believed were likely to stand out once the season arrived and play commenced.

Some of these will prove on the money. Others will require some explaining on the backside regarding just what were we thinking in March of ’26.

We believe our prognosis regarding Brayden Winchester will be proven prophetic. Winchester is among the more heavily recruited players at his position across the commonwealth of Kentucky for a reason.

Winchester was listed among our Nifty-Nichols. Why? Well that is elementary my dear, Dr. Watson, as Sir Arthur Conan Doyle might say were he here with us.

Winchester has the frame for one. Winchester is 6’3,” 225-pounds and built like a brick crap-house.

That is an old expression. The word “crap” was substituted in for a less dignified descriptor. This is a family site.

Winchester made the Big Ass Fans All-State FB team in ’25 and is on the Lasaters Coffee & Tea, preseason, “Nifty-Fifty”

Winchester had the numbers to support his elite status both from his junior year and his career, thus far. As Coach Lyon told you in our above scout, Winchester registered 49-tackles, 14.5-sacks, and eight (8) TFLs in 2025.

His QB-sack numbers were a program record for a season and good for 3rd, Kentucky-wide, on the ’25 season. Winchester holds a few more career/season/game marks for the Lakers.

Winchester holds the program record for career sacks (18.5), sacks in a season (14.5), and is tied for the career mark for sacks in a single game (3). Winchester made our Big Ass Fans, Large School, All-State Football Team. Winchester made our Lasaters Coffee & Tea, preseason, Nifty-Nichols.

We have an above link to the reveal show regarding the Big Ass Fans team. You can play our commentary about Winchester should you wish.

There aren’t too many around Kentucky who don’t believe this kid to be an elite player at both DE and TE in the KHSAA. Right now, Winchester is viewed more as a defender, at the college level, but Winchester’s work as the 6th-offensive lineman in power run schemes and Winchester’s five (5) receptions, two (2) of which were for TDs, indicate there is quite a bit of TE “game-play” in Winchester’s arsenal should the Lakers choose to utilize it.

Lethal blocker/competent TE

This guy is set to have a big year. Winchester’s being the Bank of Cadiz & Trust Company’s Feature of the Week only adds some more luster to his other distinctions.

We know this, the Lakers will be excellently coached and excellently prepared. We like this program’s track record. We love this program’s trajectory.

This offseason will go along way in answering questions. Seeing the answers revealed should prove entirely interesting.

Let’s just hope Brayden Winchester continues to demonstrate the type performance he has shown thus far. That would really get this program off on the right foot in 2026!
