@benniehill25, nothing funny about his game. @minguabeefjerky @KyHighFootball @PrepSpin @MaxPreps @1776Bank @ScottHSFootball

There was a British comedian in the 70s I thought was pretty dad-burn funny. His name was Benny Hill.

You may not remember him but his television program, The Benny Hill Show, was an amalgam of slapstick, burlesque and double entendre in a format that included live comedy and filmed segments, with Hill at the focus of almost every segment. Trust me, it was prime entertainment and a bit bawdy so I often had to sneak and watch it unbeknownst to my parents.

Hill’s Highlights

There is a modern day Benn[ie] Hill Show and it airs in Kentucky High School football. The new show is safe for children to view.

The KHSAA’s Bennie Hill is putting on quite the show too but we wouldn’t describe it as comedy. Matter of fact, the new “Bennie Hill Show” isn’t funny at all if you’re having to game plan against it.

Our Bennie Hill just finished his junior campaign. Hill carried it 92-times for 508-yards and 6-TDs. He was the second leading rusher behind QB Gus Howlett (715-yards rushing, 9 TDs to go along with Howlett’s 1,746-yards passing and 19 scoring tosses).

Hill caught a handful of passes, at least one of which went for a score. Hill was also third on the team in ’21 in offensive scoring.

But here’s the rub, how are the Scott High Eagles going to replace the incredible swath of offensive output Howlett represented over his senior year? After all, Howlett, barring some additional act of the Kentucky legislature, is out of eligibility.

The Eagles look poised to lean on the man with the same name as the former British comedian. The new Benn[ie] Hill seems to have quite a few answers.

Hill will be the main cog in the Fall/’22 offense. Can he deliver and keep the Eagles on its present ascent which saw them polish off an 8-5 in ’21? I suppose we shall see, shan’t we? Cue the music!
