’27 RB had a big game and in multiple phases for his Tigers
It will be asked for years around dinner tables in the Hopkinsville/Christian County community. “Who scored the first TD in Christian County Tiger history?” The answer will be, “Paul Abren.” In a line of things of which to be proud in the Abren family, add another noteworthy accomplishment in the sport of football. Abren had a big game in multiple phases for the Tigers against Cooper, rushing for discernible yards, scoring a TD and a two-pointer, and making defensive plays in the second and third levels. For all of the above, one may add another Lasaters Coffee & Tea weekly outstanding player award to the ever burgeoning list of awards and accomplishments.

Lassaters Coffee & Tea
Hopkinsville, KY: The newly minted Christian County Tigers allowed a winnable game to slip through the wickets this past Friday night. Going forward, this young team, in its inaugural season as a consolidated school, will learn from Friday night’s errors. The newly minted Tigers will start pulling out games it should win, making them games they do win.
Programs often have to learn how to win. This is especially true where the program is taking its maiden voyage in a season at its brand new high school.
That doesn’t mean there weren’t some fine individual performances turned in by members of the consolidated roster. One of those fine performances was from Paul Abren, ’27 ATH, and multi-phase contributor.
Abren scored the first-ever touchdown in Christian County Tigers program history on a 4-yard run to give the Tigers an early lead. Immediately following the rushing TD, Abren housed a two-point conversion to stake his Tigers to an early eight (8) point advantage.
Along the way, Abren continued to contribute offensively while performing well for the defense along the second and third levels and on special teams deployed in two-point attempts and along the coverage units for both punts and kicks. That type utility and service are chief among the reasons Paul Abren is among the better football players in the surrounding area and why he our Lasaters Coffee & Tea Player of the Week.
