KPGFootball’s Preseason Top-Five (4A) @KyHighFootball, @minguabeefjerky, @bigassfans, @driver_brock, @CoachHaddix11, @khsaafootball

It is that time of year. It is time to start figuring which teams, entering the ’25 season, figure to factor in the title chase. We have detailed what we think here and it is based on our study of the incoming, ’25 rosters, what players return, what players graduated, and other various factors we have perfected through the years to render such predictions. We had done this for all six (6) classifications as this is our sixth such article posted and published. We hope you enjoyed this series. There are good football teams in the KHSAA and there are bad ones and those teams span all of the six classes. Enjoy today’s look at 4A. Thanks for reading us.

This may prove to be the longest article of the series. This is already the longest series in magazine history. It is something else too. It is the most important undertaking we have ever before attempted. It is critically important we remember this guys before they fade into the dustbin of our collective memories. Jack Haskins did something in WKY we thought we would see. In a sea of “ground and pound” offenses and steady, “crowd the run box” defenses, Haskins filled the Friday Night air with leather. Of course, when you have 1989’s “Mr. Football” at QB, Pookie Jones, you have to incorporate an offensive system which complements your personnel. That is what Haskins did at Calloway County and the landscape, out west, has never looked the same. Enjoy this installment of this series featuring a guy who was a revolutionary, offensively, to the KHSAA game.

Those of you who have been featured in our “Slow Motion Series” may not realize this, but you owe your inclusion to one of our intrepid staff members or agents at Kentucky Prep Gridiron. Many articles begin with “Hey Fletch, you need to feature this guy or that guy” together with a small explanation why the coverage is warranted. This article began that very way. We were contacted, last night, by our central Kentucky agent, who formerly coached on this end of Kentucky, and he told us we needed to feature Al Starnes. His reasoning was Starnes is the Hoover Niece of the western end of the commonwealth. Well, that was good enough for us…Enjoy the feature.

Xzavion Brown is among the more dynamic and explosive interior defensive linemen in the commonwealth of Kentucky. You talk about a guy who can penetrate and be disruptive as well as hold a gap or two, this is your man. His junior statistics bear out that he has a penchant for making big plays which put offenses behind the down and distance markers. Enjoy this look at this very fine football player.

How does a high school program such as 2X defending 3A champion, CAL, replace a QB with over 4,000-yards passing in ’23 and 55-TDs against only 7-picks? How about with a 6’5,” 210 pound rising junior who is a varsity athlete in both football and basketball (just like a taller version of Hodge)! Yeah, that’ll do it. Enjoy the feature. We take a deep dive into the matchup between Paducah Tilghman and Covington Catholic upcoming this Friday night in the semi-state. The game is being played in Park Hills, KY and we have broken down the relevant subparts to answer the equation (we believe anyway). Enjoy this “deep dive” into the matchup. We didn’t put in many pictures, this is a “meat and potatoes” article and not one for an unserious, high school, football fan. Enjoy, Friday Night Fletch

Jack James is one of Kentucky’s very best at the QB position especially in the ’25 graduating class. He is already his schools all-time TD thrower and Hunter Cantwell played at PTHS. What James did last Friday night is the type production you’re lucky to get on a video game. Enjoy the feature and celebrate with us the services, people, and financial products which have caused a revolution in Kentucky’s banking industry. FL.

We are approaching round four (4) in the KHSAA playoffs. All of these teams left standing are very good. There are exactly no bad apples left in the barrel. It will be the “little things” which differentiate between winning and losing at this point. “Mighty Mayfield” has themselves the home field and a kicker in Lincoln Suiter who has before come through for the Cardinals in a “big game,” with the game on the line. If called upon, Friday night, will he come through once more? We shall see, but the Cardinals are confident. Enjoy the feature. HB.

We have always said it is our people who make Independence Bank who and what we are. Janice Cleary is a person we are proud to claim at Independence Bank and so we thought we would honor her today in our feature of another person of whom we are enormously proud, Jordauyn White from Tilghman High. Enjoy this feature. HB.
